When you are employed as an expat in Denmark, you will in most cases work under the Danish taxation law. All Danes pay income tax. The percentages are high, but it's a part of our culture - just as deeply rooted as the Danish welfare system. You too need to pay Danish tax, and there may be some international conditions influencing your taxation rate. You may also have incentive programmes at your new work place, which needs to be included in your taxation calculation when you are relocated to Denmark. As a relocated foreign citizen in Denmark, you may fall under certain special taxation rules, for instance the 26% taxation scheme, provided your salary exceeds a certain amount, or you may need to pay the normal Danish tax. Anyway, to understand the Danish taxation when relocating, can be like finding a way in a jungle. This applies even more to calculating the exact amount that you will have in your pocket. |
